Ray's brave as his nature indicates, and has no qualms about rescuing every damsel in distress out there (for a fee) without fear, but as admirable as that is, the flipside of that bravery is that he's also... reckless as all hell; no matter how big the opponent or obstacle and no matter how hurt he is, he won't back down or give up until someone dies. So he's kinda stupid that way. Like you know, the guy who refuses to go to the hospital because 'god Sally, it's just a flesh wound'. He's also proud and has a weird sense of honour, in that he believes not going all out against every opponent would be disrespectful, so yeah, he's one of those guys who use all their strength to punch an ant. Or a fly. He has holes in his house as proof.

This also means that he's not used to controlling his own strength, so getting a friendly pat on the back from him usually means being given a one-way ticket down on the pavement. He won't apologize either, because uh, well, it was kinda your fault for being weak? Despite that though, he hates bullies and people picking on the weak, and is bound to step up if he sees any of that going on, or perceives it as being going on, anyway. Sometimes this concern is misplaced and makes him appear majorly condescending. Woops. He never picks fights with weaker people either, even fi he accepts their challenges without a second thought. Still, a lot of the time he accidentally ends up being a bit of an ass too, because ok what is gentleness and empathy again. He's not stupid, but he is kind of oblivious to things sometimes, especially things concerning others' feelings. And sometimes he's not, but pretends to be shhh. Also he kind of teases people sometimes. Or so people say. He says he isn't aware of it. Go figure.

He's an adrenaline junkie before anything else and absolutely loves to spar and fight, so he's often bruised and bleeding, but that's cool, don't worry. He's kind of serious and not that good with humour, and he doesn't appreciate being on the receiving end of teasing. Not that it's easy to tease him, but if you succeed and he gets flustered, things explode. He doesn't get angry easily, but he gets frustrated often. Irritated too, if they aren't the same thing. He has kind of an obsession to win all the things ever as well, and that sometimes leads him into weird situations, and he has kind of this "must get back at them if lost" mentality. He makes enemies and rivals kinda often, but at the same time, he also jumps at a lot of people to take them under his wing and make them strong if he sees they're struggling. He's very loyal and protective once he sees the need to be, and heaven hath no fury like this featherbrain scorned if you injure something (or someone, rather) that's his. He's also very dutiful as a result of his past jobs, and is looking to become a bodyguard again, because seriously sitting around jobless is driving him crazy and destroying his health because what else is there to do than fight with all the things all day when you have no job.

History: Ray was born into a good home - but in a very, very bad neighborhood. His hometown was ridden with poverty, sickness and crime, and so it was only a matter of time before he found himself involved in criminal activity as well. Someone had to feed the family after all, and his sick mother and two sisters too young to even read sure as heck weren’t going to fill that part. So, Rayden started out with smaller crimes from pick pocketing to robbery, but eventually ended up involved with the local mafia-like organization consisting solely of bird Pokémon, because, well... he was strong for his age, and he was a bird. And in desperate need of money.

Hesitant at first, Ray soon found out the group wasn't as bad as its reputation and name would suggest. Yes, the groups members did do bad things on occasion, but they also helped out their kin and acted very civil; something many of the rogue thieves around town or, hell, regular townsfolk surely didn’t. Ray liked it, and being a thief and a thug paid him enough to pay the bills and eventually afford his parents a new home down south, where life was hopefully better. And yet, when it came time to leave town, Ray found himself hesitating. He had worked hard to raise all the money needed and had dreamt of moving away for so long and yet, once the time came, he couldn’t leave. He felt like he couldn’t abandon the bunch of birds he’d ended up growing with, and he felt like his bad reputation would onlu be a burden to his family. They'd manage. His mother was healthy enough to take care of his already teenage sisters.

So, he stayed, trained, worked, grew in ranks and eventually ended up looking after the head honcho's young Murkrow son asa  bodyguard of sorts. It was a job he both hated and loved; the kid was annoying as all hell, but at the same time he got to fulfill his need to protect something and fight. It was fulfilling, even if he did kind of want to sock the rule-breaking brat sometimes. It wasn’t to last, however. The whole town’s situation had grown worse during the years, and eventually the whole gang had to split up to avoid being taken down and caught. The head honcho swore he’d gather everyone together once again when the time’d be right but until then, everyone was to go and live a life of their own. Ray protested, but nobody ever said 'no' to the head honcho, and so he was practically driven away.

And that's how Ray ended up wandering around as a bodyguard for hire, but without an official work permit or anything of the sort, his clients were rare at best. That, and wandering around didn't really help. He has to settle down somewhere - and that's when he ended up stumbling across Luminose City. He still doesn't have that job, though. One day, though. Soon. For sure.

- ... Also he has no tact so if he wants to talk to you he will just grab you from the middle of whatever you're doing and be like 'sup

- But try not to touch the wings even if they're in your face, he doesn't like that
